Growing and loving your own food:)

For our wedding, my husband and I wanted to give something meaningful, natural and useful. We were not looking forward to giving a porcelain item that we knew our families were going to have to store in some dark spot and forget about. After much brainstorming different ideas such as cookies, chocolate and other. consumables, we decided to give different herbs because we liked the idea that it would represent life or the spice of life. We went to an organically grown herbs farm called Richter's herbs above the city of Toronto and picked out many common and useful herbs for each of our guests. Overall, the price was quite minimal about 1-3 dollars per herb but more importantly it was a gift that meant something for us.
Growing and supporting the growth of your own veggies and herbs whether it be in your own home or in your own city is so important. It is a true gift to be able to reap what you sow and have it nourish you. We have been growing our own tomatoes for the first time this year and it has been so exciting to watch the plant grow, flower and give fruit. If that is the essence of life and of marriage it is amazing.
